I am a sucker for Airshows, and Aircraft. I originally wanted to be a pilot (what little boy doesn’t?) and ended up studying Aeronautical Engineering. How I wound up in IT I’ll never know, but my love of aviation has found new expression in photography.
This is NOT my photo, but it is so good that I had to post it. It was taken by Bernardo Malfitano, from Seattle, and he describes it as follows:
A picture I took at MCAS Miramar’s 2008 airshow. A lot of people really like it. It shows an F-22 at the top of the loop. The low pressure over the wings has cooled the air below its dew point, causing the humidity to condense into visible water droplets… and this happened in just the right place in the sky for sunlight to undergo total internal refraction through the water droplets at just the right angle to be refracted towards me, i.e. I see rainbow colors over the airplane. A very neat effect.
Very kind of him for sharing it with the world.
